Chrissy, Greg and I went to see the Down from the Mountain tour (music from O'Brother Where Art Thou) last night. Allison Kraus, Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs, Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, The Fairfield Four were many to perform. The show was about 3 1/2 hours long. Dear Chrissy and family, Our family is friends with Sarah. We had the privilege to get to know her last summer while she was working for the Powells on Hilton Head. Sarah came to visit us over Spring break this year while she was on HHI and we were excited to think that she might come back for this summer. But then she called to say that she didn't know why, but she felt that God wanted her to stay in Chicago. Then we heard from her later about Chrissy's brain tumor and realized why God had her in Chicago for this time. He had a special job for her to do, that of organizing this fund raising effort, as well as being there to encourage you all. We want you to know that our family has been praying for you all, that God would give you strength each day for the challenges you face and that you would experience His love and personal touch as you undergo this very difficult time. My favortie verse which I have always claimed for my children is Jeremiah 29:11- 13 "For I (the Lord) know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." I will also pray that the Lord will speak to you in these words and make you realize how much He cares for you and wants you to experience His peace which passes all understanding. I lost a 14 year old niece to Medullablastoma (brain stem cancer) on May 3, 2002 after a 18 month battle. This is a devastating illness for the entire family. I wish you all the best and will keep Chrissy and all of you in my prayers. I work with Teresa DiJoseph and United Healthcare and was saddened to hear of Chrissy's illness. i dont know chrissy but i know her mom and i have a daughter that age. nothing is worse then having a sick child and being unable to help them. my thoughts and prayers are with the family.
